Blues Workout

The Jazz Workout and the Blues Workout offer you a program that enables you to improvise effortlessly on jazz standards and the blues.

  • Can’t remember jazz standards?
  • Can’t get beyond improvising on a blues using the blues scale?
  • Feel overwhelmed by the amount of jazz repertoire and don’t know where to start?
  • Would you like to improvise in total freedom on chord progressions of jazz standards or the blues?

You too can improvise in complete freedom on jazz standards and the blues, learn them by heart and easily jam with other musicians.

What you need is a practice routine that gives you enough time to study the music thoroughly and to practice the exercises that inspire you and suit your level. Both the Jazz Workout and Blues Workout offer such a routine. Together, these courses offer you a year of study fun and provide a solid foundation that you can also apply to new jazz and blues repertoire.

Each lesson of the Jazz and Blues Workout concentrate around one jazz or blues standard. You will practise together with handy play-along videos and inspiring jam tracks, deepening your understanding of harmony and melody along the way.

These lessons will also help you expand your repertoire, learn the language of jazz, fill the gaps in your theoretical knowledge and discover different stylistic angles. The program is completely in line with what you will have learned in the Mixed Harmony workshop.

'Having the material laid out has been amazing.
'

The method gives me a logical way of working through the chord progressions in a musical way. I have always wanted to improvise but never really gone about it in an organised way as other things in life have taken priority. Having the material laid out has been amazing.

'Brilliant course, great teaching and materials.'

Brilliant course, great teaching and materials. I especially liked the new interactive highlighting of the melody paths on the standards - really helpful. I've found this process always leads me back into the basics and getting under the skin further.

'I feel like a real musician now'

I have been playing guitar for many years now and have always felt technically
proficient, yet disconnected with music. After delving through a lot of the IFR content, taking private lessons and
taking Jelske's courses, I feel like I have grown immensely in my musicianship.
Although my ear is still developing, I feel like a real musician now.
